Northstar Montessori, under the direction of Tami Elliott, has been providing quality care for children in the Saline and Ann Arbor area for over 18 years… (we will work on this)
Northstar Montessori, under the direction of Tami Elliott, has been providing quality care for children since 2004. We combined two locations into one beautiful facility. We provide a safe, loving, home-like environment for children to learn and grow, using the Montessori method.
Young children learn by doing. They acquire knowledge about their world through playful interaction with objects and people. Children are motivated to learn by their own desire to make sense of their world. We are committed to providing a developmentally appropriate program with the help of trained teachers using a variety of materials and equipment. We engage children in an environment that is child-initiated, child-directed and teacher supported.
The Montessori Method
What makes Montessori Education Unique?
The historic curriculum is guided by specially trained teachers; it allows the child to experience the joy of learning while being given the time of processing our curriculum. Promotes self esteem while providing safe experiences from which they create.
The “Prepared Environment”
In order for self-directed learning to take place, the whole learning environment—room, materials and social climate—must be supportive of the learner. The teacher provides necessary resources, including opportunities for children to function in a safe and positive climate. The teacher thus gains the children’s trust, which enables them to try new things and build self-confidence.
