Northstar Montessori is seeking a warm, caring, dependable, and passionate Assistant Teacher to join our Montessori community.

As an Assistant Teacher, you will work alongside the Lead Teacher to create a peaceful, engaging, and beautifully prepared classroom where children are encouraged to become confident, independent, and joyful learners. This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who loves working with children, values teamwork, and is interested in learning and growing within the Montessori approach.

This is a permanent, full-time position in Saline, Michigan.

What You'll Do

• Support the Lead Teacher in maintaining a beautiful, organized, and thoughtfully prepared classroom.
• Build warm, respectful relationships with children and help create a safe and welcoming environment.
• Assist with classroom activities, lessons, transitions, meals, outdoor time, and daily routines.
• Encourage children's independence, confidence, curiosity, and love of learning.
• Observe and support children's academic, social, emotional, and physical development.
• Help maintain a calm, respectful, and joyful classroom community.
• Collaborate closely with the Lead Teacher, Directors, and other team members.
• Communicate professionally and positively with families and colleagues.
• Participate in staff meetings, school events, and ongoing professional development.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming classroom while following State of Michigan licensing requirements.
• Bring professionalism, reliability, flexibility, and a positive attitude to your work each day.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young children in a preschool, childcare, or educational setting preferred.
• Montessori experience or knowledge is a plus, but not required.
• A genuine love for working with children.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Dependable, caring, patient, and flexible.
• Willingness to learn and grow professionally.
• A positive attitude and commitment to creating a nurturing environment for children.
